The Association of Manufacturers of Domestic Appliances is to hold its annual conference on 1 May 2025 in partnership with City, St George’s University of London. The conference will be on the theme of ‘The Roadmap to a Sustainable Appliance Future’ and will feature renowned tech journalist Maggie Philbin OBE as Chair. Ms Philbin will lead two panel debates with speakers from appliance manufacturers, trade associations, testing laboratories, repair companies, academia, consumer organisations and accessibility experts. Delving into the appliance industry’s role in supporting a circular economy, and the role of new technologies in enabling greater sustainability, panel members will discuss the challenges and opportunities for the appliance industry as it continues to support wider sustainability goals. Members of the audience will also be encouraged to share their insights during the sessions.
Registration will be from 12.30pm allowing delegates time to visit City St George’s University of London state of the art AV/VR Suite and to view the Product and Partner Showcase, as well as network with fellow delegates from government, appliance manufacturers, fire services, retailers, consumer organisations, academia and allied trade associations over lunch.
The conference will be rounded off with a talk from Guest Speaker Jonathon Porritt CBE, former Chair of the Ecology Party, who has been at the forefront of championing the sustainability agenda for thirty years. Following the conference a free networking reception will be held for delegates and speakers.
Paul Hide, AMDEA CEO says: ‘We are delighted to host our conference again, the AMDEA Conference is the only dedicated conference for the appliance industry in the calendar. This year we have changed the format a bit to allow delegates more time for travel to London. We have an exciting programme and look forward to the discussions which always bring fresh perspectives and ideas on the current and future opportunities for the appliance industry to play an important role in householders and the Government’s drive to a more sustainable future.’
