The Association of Manufacturers of Domestic Appliances (AMDEA) today welcomed two
government announcements: the indefinite extension of recognition of CE marking and the
launch of the Product Safety Review consultation.
AMDEA CEO Paul Hide said: “The indefinite extension of the CE mark gives appliance
manufacturers much needed confidence in planning for the future as well as helping avoid
unnecessary cost burdens and duplication. The long awaited Product Safety Review is needed
to ensure regulation meets the changing product and channel landscapes, in particular to
protect the rising number of shoppers purchasing from online market places.”
Mr Hide added a call to urge government departments to synchronise their work to support
industries, such as the UK appliance sector, to prosper in a harmonized post-EU member
world.
