Material Focus has been working closely with producers, retailers, local authorities, recyclers and waste management companies to make it easier to fix, donate and recycle our existing electricals. And we’ve funded over 60 brilliant, practical projects that are making it easier for us all to fix, donate, and recycle existing electricals, ensuring that the crucial and finite materials inside them don’t go to waste.
But e-waste remains the world’s fastest-growing waste stream, with over 100,000 tonnes of electricals binned annually in the UK alone. And too many new products still aren’t designed to be easily reused and recycled
The Circular Electricals Fund supports new ideas aimed at keeping electricals and their materials in use for longer, so we can enjoy the benefits of technology today without compromising future generations.
We’re offering funding of up to £150,000 for practical, scalable projects that enhance resource efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and encourage collaboration. And our brilliant judges, from retired rugby union player and environmental entrepreneur Andy Gomarsall to award-winning engineer and innovator Yewande Akinola, can’t wait to see what new ideas and fresh approaches are out there.
The Fund is accepting applications until August 14, with a webinar for applicants on June 11
