On 16th January 2018, AMDEA celebrated its third annual ‘Register My Appliance Day’, with support from the Business Minister Andrew Griffiths MP, urging the public to register their appliances so that manufacturers can contact them if a safety repair is ever needed.
Over four million people received a reminder from AMDEA members, while supporters including the Fire and Rescue Services nationwide, RoSPA, Trading Standards, Citizens Advice, Electrical Safety First and the National Landlords Association helped highlight the day through press and social media.
The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) raised awareness of Register My Appliance Day to colleagues in BEIS at a display in their office ‘Community Corner’.
Business Minister, Andrew Griffiths said:
“Public Safety is the Government’s number one priority. It’s important that manufacturers can get in touch with consumers quickly if there are any problems with their appliances, which why I fully back AMDEA’s Register My Appliance Day.
The ‘Register My Appliance’ website is a simple, free and quick tool to keep consumers safe so I would encourage everyone to take a few minutes to use it.”
The Register my appliance campaign offers consumers a simple way to increase their home safety, by registering all of their appliances acquired in the last 12 years, in one place. Currently the website portal provides access to the product registration pages of over 60 leading brands of domestic appliances, including most of the UK’s top selling brands of major white goods.
